During motherhood, you need a business that’s in line with your mission, lifestyle desires, personality and zone of genius without wasting your time on the hamster wheel that is social media. You are a Maverick, an original willing to stand out in your authenticity, defy expectations and do life and business outside the box. If it’s not in line with who we are, it’s a hard pass or a brave pivot. Productivity is the key to making all of that possible!
Productivity Tips for Momprenuers
I want to give you some tips on how you can maximize productivity, so that you can still strive towards your goals because you’re allowed to have goals. You’re allowed to build a business in the midst of motherhood.
When we look on social media or the internet and see mamas just crushing it we think, why can’t I do that too? Well, there’s so many different factors. We don’t know the behind the scenes of anyone’s lives, so I’m going to peel back the curtains on mine for you. I have definitely experienced flickers, sometimes larger than flickers, of mom guilt, but at the end of the day I wish I could go back and tell myself at that time that my priority is always Taylor.
What I do makes me really happy and I honestly believe that is the best freaking gift that we can give our children is a mama who is whole and happy. In the end, we are the only ones who can give that to their children. That’s our responsibility to give them a mother who is happy, loves life, is fulfilled and living out her calling. I was able to build my online business and brand in three years with a babe on my hip full-time and working full-time for a year of that.
Multitask When You Can
I had specific routines and a lot of these I still do because it just makes sense. For example, checking and responding to emails and messages while walking at an incline on the treadmill. That is getting in your workout in and taking care of a task that doesn’t really require you to be sitting with full focus. So, think of ways that you can do simple tasks, which aren’t going to require these larger time blocks, that you can combine with something that you already do within your day.
Time-Blocking
Finding blocks of time, even if that means sacrificing sleep. When you’re in super hustle mode or have a launch coming up, finding those time blocks is so helpful. Back in the day, my ex-husband traveled a lot for work. Many nights he would be away when Taylor would be asleep. Instead of going to bed early, I would work on a project for a few hours at a time. I would get so much done with time block versus trying to fit things in to every nook and cranny.
I have the tasks that I even block out a week in advance, so as soon as I sit down I can just go right to it and get done what I need to get done.
Most of the time, honestly, it feels like the opposite of balance. You’re an ambitious woman. You want to do everything and implement all your business brain children right now. The important thing is that you take a few steps forward towards your vision and goals every day. This is not the season for you to do a full court press.
Give Yourself Grace
My last point for you is just to give yourself grace. There, honestly, isn’t enough time for dreams as big as I know that yours are. That’s okay! In a year, you’ll be surprised at how much you have accomplished if you continue to show up.
The most important thing is for you to not quit. Do not beat yourself up for not being able to do all these huge things, because you will. It’s just a matter of time. I believe in you. You’re doing awesome!
